Staying positive and looking forward to a good year

I just thought I would give an update on how I feel about the image I posted for life expectancy. Although it isn't nice to see and is depressing, Im not going to let a few words on a piece of paper convince me that this is my last year on this planet. As you know I'm looking into various alternatives to contemporary medicines and I may be starting on my last line of defence for myeloma treatment in the usual way, but I'm only just starting on the alternatives. Sessamin being the first one, it will be interesting to see what happens.
I'm at Chester at the momment having blood I also need more platelets so having two units of blood and one bag of platelets. I should be finished by about 4pm.

  1. Atta boy, Sean. I know so many MM'ers who have FAR outlived their doctors' guesses. My husband is one of them. I also know 3 men whose wives were told years ago they would not survive the pickle they were in. All three are around today. I so hate when dr.s make these quack-pot assumptions.

  2. Hi Sean, I was dx. 8 months ago with myeloma. I am a 49 year old guy with a wife and two small boys. I read your blog from time to time and was shocked about the doctor's prognosis. I think he is bonkers and you're going to be around for years and years. I am Catholic and you and your family are in my prayers. Hang tough! Terry from New Jersey

  3. Awwwww Sean.... If you have read any of DELUDIA's posting, you know he is way past his Shelf Life and you can do it, too. It is a bad idea to rely on 'prognosis' data because it might be skewed in some way. And furthermore, I am intending you are finding your way through this to a solution for better health for the highest and best good of all concerned, so be it and so it is!!! Go to Margaret's Corner and get the address of David who beat it... I don't have it right here, but e-mail me if you cannot find it and I will go searching for you!!! Hugs!!

  4. I've read the Deludias post at www.deludia.com, it was very interesting and I agree with what Bob was saying about not believing everything you read and hear. Even if it is your Oncologist that is telling you. We have to make our own choices in the end. They are just following protocol and listening to their peers, but to us it's our life that we are making these decisions on.

  6. SEAN, I CAN IMAGINE WHAT THE INITIAL BLOW FELT LIKE WHEN YOU READ THAT PROGNOSIS BIT. BUT READING FURTHER, I KNOW YOU REALIZE THAT IT MEANS VERY LITTLE. SO JUST KEEP SEARCHING FOR WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU, AND FOLLOW YOUR GUT WITH FEELING THAT THERE IS SOMETHING THAT IS A PERFECT FIT FOR YOU, AND YOUR UNIQUE, INDIVIDUAL CASE OF MYELOMA. MY WISH FOR YOU IS THAT ALL THE GOOD YOU ARE DOING WITH YOUR BLOG COMES BACK TO YOU A THOUSAND-FOLD AND MORE. AND THAT SOMETHING, SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE WILL PRESENT YOU WITH THE ANSWERS YOU NEED TO CONTINUE TO LIVE MANY,MANY MORE YEARS. WARM HUGS, KAREN
