The problem with people with Cancer is that they die!

I found out yesterday that one of my friends that I kept in touch with via email has died.

I’d not heard from her for a number of weeks and she normally sends funny emails to keep us all amused and generally informs everyone how she is doing.

I’d not got a response from the email so Charito suggested having  look at her Facebook page to see if she had posted anything. She doesn’t tend to keep her Facebook up to date but I took a look and discovered that there were lots of messages saying she will be sadly missed. It was quite upsetting.

    What a bummer. She looks such fun in the photos and I can only imagine how her poor family must be feeling. Such very sad news for you.
    Now I hope you've learnt something important and ensure you don't do the same across us. :-)

    So sorry to hear this Sean. What a beautiful soul, and with young kids too. Ugh, I just can't stand the bright lights that cancer has taken away from this world. It makes no damn sense at all. :o(

    I remember Becky - what a darling girl. I feel terrible for her husband and two young children. Actually, I feel terrible for all of us in the blogosphere. This is so unfair - I know, a naive remark; however, it is.

    Hi Sean,

    This is Becky's sister, Susannah, from Australia.

    I have only just felt brave enough to trawl through all my sisters emails that she has ever sent me and came across your link that she sent me last year.

    I'm sorry that nobody informed you of Becky's sad passing. In the end the cancer caused dementia which became most noticeable a few days after Christmas. By the time our mother went to help her husband care for her, near the end of January, Becky very wobbly on her legs, but she still had a fighting spirit.

    By 13th February, Mum's birthday, she was sleeping more than 20 hours a day, and within the week she was bed bound. Becky had the dignity of dieing at home being cared for by family, mainly her husband and Mum, supported by daily visits from nurses/doctors . Friends would pop in daily bringing in food parcels and their best wishes.

    By the beginning of March Becky's slept 24/7 never to open her eyes again. She passed away quietly in the early hours of Saturday, 17th March.

    Becky's Funeral was a simple affair but she was fair-welled by many friends and family all wearing something pink (Becky's favourite colour, even the blossom on the trees was pink, something we could not have planned if we tried.

    Becky will be sadly missed, it's as though some part of me is missing now, my sister and best friend.
