Some Very Sad News

Hi Everyone this is Sean’s brother Nigel writing this blog entry.

This is to inform all of Sean’s friends and blog readers, that Sean pass away suddenly in the early hours of this morning 29th May @ 01:40.

On Sunday evening he had a bit of a high temperature, this carried on in to Monday, by the evening he felt very unwell and his daughter Amy, took him and Charito to the hospital.  when he arrived he was too unwell to walk and they took him in on a wheel chair.  the hospital gave him oxygen and took him to X-Ray, then put him in a bed at A&E, but shortly after that he collapsed the hospital staff managed to bring back round, but he wasn’t fully aware of his surroundings, half an hour later he passed away with no pain.  At the moment we don’t know what actually happened to him and may never know, we are awaiting the coroners decision as if they want a most mortem or not?

Sean was always a positive person with a twisted sense of humour thrown in for good measure.  he kept smiling and made me laugh with some of his blog entry's,  we were both sure he would last a long time even with the dire situations he kept finding himself in.  With hind sight Sean was probably a lot sicker than he thought, and just wanted to stay at home with his wife Charito, than go to hospital with a little bit of a high temperature.  he has managed this in the past, as you will have read on some of his earlier blogs.

We would like to thank all the well wishers and friends he made over the years, and to all those who have this terrible disease to keep fighting, as Sean said in his last blog, everyone is different and some people make it.  Stuff does work for a lucky few, so keep smiling and keep the faith, just hang in there.

A special mention some of the friends that Sean made with Myeloma, Paula, Adam and Antony.

I Will update with any more information later

I will miss Sean very much.  Nigel

Last word from Sean, So long and thanks for the fish!

  2. So very sorry to read this. Sean truly was remarkable in how he handled everything he has been through. He rarely got a break but always seemed to rise above it all. Thoughts and prayers go out to Charito, his family, and friends. This is a sad day, indeed. :o(

I posted a comment but it somehow didn't appear... my condolences to Charito and to you, Nigel, as well as the rest of Sean's family and friends who will miss his upbeat perspective in a grim situation. I came to know him through the blog and, as a photographer also, appreciated his unique lens views. May these next days bring many words and expressions of comfort to you all.

  14. Dear Nigel,
As soon as I saw your name I worried, knowing that you were the one who gave your stem cells to Sean. To think that he just posted on his blog a week ago and is now gone, is very difficult to wrap one's mind around. My deepest sympathy goes out to you, Charito, and the family in this sudden loss. My husband has MM, and Sean's upbeat, positive attitude in the face of many disappointments encouraged us both. He will be sorely missed. Thank you for taking on the task of sharing this difficult news with so many who followed and loved Sean.

  15. I have so little to add. Mike and I will always remember Sean as the one who sang "Always look on the bright side of life" ans got Mike to do the same for a planned YouTube video.

Farewell Sean you will be missed. Condolences to all who loved him.

    1. as all the posts have been so uplifting on here and have brought our 3 children so much the other side of planet comfort, this one stuck out in our daughters mind. That some one accross the planet sent their sympathy and love to them. I can only speak for our
children, but i have no doubt at all it will have meant so much to Maria, Nigel and the rest of the family.
Thank you so much. Thank you to everyone. Your support has been amazing.

  19. Nigel, I am so sorry to hear of Sean's passing. I've only recently started following Sean's blog as my husband was just diagnosed with MM. I even went right to the beginning posts so that I would understand how he felt and what he went through in his journey. My heart hurts for you and his family. :-(

  24. MM is just such a horrible hand to be dealt, and yet Sean managed it all with such a positive attitude and good sense of humour that, to me, was quite remarkable. I'm sure that he ( and his blog) were a huge encouragement and example to other MM patients, he cetainly made a difference for me.
My thoughts are with his family.

  26. Dear Nigel, Charito and all Sean's family,
Deepest sympathy to you all on Sean's passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers - even though I have never met any of you, I feel kinship towards you in your sadness and grief.
My husband too has multiple myeloma, and I have found courage and solidarity from reading Sean's blogs.
    May he rest in peace.

  27. dear nigel, please extend my heartfelt sympathy to charito and all of Sean's family at his sudden passing. i will miss him, and know i join with legions of myeloma patients and their loved ones who so valued sean's sharing what he went through, with his quirky humor, positive outlook, and always hopeful attitude. my husband has MM, and i was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. at a time when things were difficult, sean reached out to us with such kindness and encouragement - we will never forget him.

during these painful days of the anguish at his loss, i wish you all comfort in the knowledge of how much sean meant to so many people. with deepest sympathy, karen sutherland

  28. Today I took a blow to the heart on learning about the sad passing of sean, I joined his blog back in february and took a great deal of encouragement and comfort from his words and as I walked in eastam woods to relieve the sadness I felt for your family a poem came to mind which suited the way I feel about the beast known as myeloma and today this is for you its called invictus by w h henley

  29. very sad to hear the news about Sean - condolences to family and friends. I worked on projects with Sean over a few years when he was at Global (we were contractors in Leicester) and he stood out for his courtesy and friendliness. After becoming ill, I also got to see the cheeky, dry side of him and I enjoyed following his witty and informative blog. There are givers and there are takers in life - Sean gave lots - thanks Sean and I will raise a toast to you on the 11th

  30. This is a real shock to me. I had imagined that Sean would be there and just keep bumping along with the easier and more difficult affects of living with, dealing with myeloma. Having the opportunity to read Sean's blog gave me a sense that myeloma was "outside" -- over by Sean.

Now it's not so far away. It's right here.

Thank you for posting here so we have an idea what is going on. That is so important. Please accept my words; May you be soon at peace with yourself. I wish there was a way to guarantee you would stop hurting. Let the time go by ... for now.

    Let me just finish with this;

    Goodbye Sean.

I hope you enjoyed all the fish.

    - Mark
